FC Barcelona started the season with astonishing 5-1 win over Real Sociedad. Captain Carles Puyol scored first goal in 4 minutes, but Gonzalo Castro scored few minutes later for Real Sociedad and the score was level.
The best player of the world Lionel Messi then started his magic by scoring 2 goals within five minutes. Pedro made it 4-1 before half time from a Tello cross. Although Tello couldn't score, but he played a great part in the game and assists Messi's second goal.
In the 75th minute Pedro was gone off and David Villa was on after a long 8 months absence. The Camp Nou crowd gave him standing ovation when he entered the field. He replied the FC Barcelona supporters by scoring his first goal in the 84th minute, which made the score-line 5-1. So Tito Vilanova's debut as FC Barcelona manager was simply great by the convincing victory against Real Sociedad.
